POSITION:                Special Projects Officer

LOCATION: Department of Administration, Concho , OK

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of the Department of Administration, the Special Projects Officer shall be responsible for providing specialized assistance to the Executive Director on Notice of Funds Available (NOFA) for projects and/or grants. The Special Projects Officer will be required to research various grant applications available through the various funding agencies and report findings to the Executive Director, as well as the Governor/Lt. Governor. The Special Projects Officer, through submission of the proper grant application process, shall seek to acquire monetary grants to aide the program in the pursuit of establishing and acquiring projects and/or grants on behalf of the Cheyenne-Arapaho Tribes of Oklahoma. Other duties and responsibilities shall include the following.

  • Must be proficient in completing necessary paperwork to apply for grants and/or projects.
  • Provide aide, upon the Executive Director’s directive, in the development of business plans that are project specific.
  • Must become familiar with various funding agency requirements for submission of grants and/or contracts for potential investments, developments, or proposals.
  • Must compile background information on potential investments and development opportunities as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Must conduct financial research on potential investments and development opportunities as assigned by the Executive Director.
  • Aide in the implementation, through the creation of administrative positions, of the various projects and/or grants for which funding is attained.
  • Maintain a record keeping system that will identify grants applied for, grants approved/disapproved, objective of grant (s), and status of grants.
  • Must be able to work independently and make decisions concerning grant applications and proposals.
  • Must aide, upon the Executive Director’s directive, in research of land issues, specifically Trust application submission.
  • Perform other duties, specifically related to Special Projects, as assigned by the Executive Director.  

REQUIREMENTS:

·        Requires a Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in the Business Administration, or at least two (2) years experience in the administration of grants and contracts.

·        Prefer experience working with Tribal Government of organization.

·        Prefer experience in supervision of administrative personnel.

·        Must have experience in communicating with the key personnel from other agencies and levels of government  ( State, Federal, Local, and Tribal)

·        Requires excellent grammar skills as an indication of proficiency in written communication.

·        Must demonstrate adept oral communication.

·        Must be computer literate and have experience with various software programs, including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Access, and Word Prefect.

·        Must demonstrate experience in grant writing and proposal submission.

·        Must have current Oklahoma State Driver’s license and dependable transportation.

·        Native American Preference.

·        Must pass pre-hire drug and alcohol screening.

SALARY: Negotiable
