POSITION:   Domestic Violence Coordinator

LOCATION:   Social Services, Tribal Headquarters, Concho

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This employee shall be under the direct supervision of the Executive Director of Social Services. This position will have the responsibility of completing the objective and activities of the program plan of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes STOP grant in order to achieve the major goal of the project which is to eliminate domestic violence within the tribal family structure. To provide “safe haven” for the tribal women to retreat to when becoming involved in an abusive situation, and to find long term solutions to their problems through the guidance, education, counseling, and life coping skills. To provide immediate assistance to victims of rape/sexual assault through counseling and emergency assistance. To coordinate domestic violence services with the Social Workers assigned to the elderly cause.


EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • Assessment of the Domestic Violence Cases.
  • Case Management
  • Counseling and/or referral to the IHS Mental Health Workers
  • Refer to other “Battered Women’s Shelters” out of the service area
  • Collaborate with the Social Service workers assigned to the Elderly abuse cases, assist with Domestic Violence Emergency Assistance.
  • Coordinate the networking computer system with the tribal court, the Attorney General and the Law Enforcement Department (when the Tribes re-contract for this department)
  • Contact Consultants, obtain bids, and coordinate reviews and enact the policies and procedures for the Coordinated Community Response Team.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree of Social Work or Criminal Justice, preferred; 3 years work experience in this specific field may substitute for education.
  • Cheyenne & Arapaho Tribal Preference
  • Knowledge about the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes Culture and/or history
  • Current Oklahoma Driver’s License

 SALARY:   Negotiable
