Burial assistance is funded from net gaming revenues and is administered through Tribal Enrollment. There are 2 components within the Burial Assistance: Funeral Assistance and Meal/Transportation Assistance. The amount available for either assistance is subject to change.
A set allocation is available for tribal members upon their death. The allocation is intended to pay for expenses incurred by the funeral home for the burial/funeral of the decedent, such as casket, vault, transporting the body, use of facilities, services, memorial package, etc. The amount is made payable to the funeral home. The attending funeral home will assist the family in completing the FUNERAL ASSISTANCE GRANT APPLICATION. The application, along with the CERTIFIED death certificate and invoice of services must be submitted within 90 days of burial. A W-9 is required to be on file for any funeral home who anticipates payment by the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes for these services.
